WHAT WE DO
We reduce juvenile delinquency
In Romania, three out of ten children (28.2%, EUROSTAT, 2021) are affected by severe material and social deprivation.
Children and young people without parental care and support are among the most vulnerable groups in Romania, according to research and strategic planning.
Starting from 2009, in Romania, young people had the second highest poverty rate, being the main group affected by the economic crisis. In 2012, young people between the ages of 18 and 24 had an extremely high rate of poverty and social exclusion (35.5%), very close to the high risk of poverty experienced by children. Among the vulnerabilities associated with youth poverty are bullying (especially in schools) and the growing risks of drug addiction among children and young people. Reducing juvenile delinquency is a priority for us, achieved through care, education, mediation and constant support, until the financial autonomy of the beneficiary children is achieved.

Our campaigns focused on reducing juvenile delinquency highlight the negative impact of violence on children, promote a safer and more supportive family and school environment.
Through initiatives like “Normality does not leave bruises”, we emphasize the need for an environment without abuse.
Through these integrated initiatives, we create an environment where vulnerable young people can grow, develop and become responsible and active members of society:

In our day centers, Casa YANA, Casa Heidi and Casa Aurora, we offer a safe and encouraging environment where children learn, develop and receive the necessary support to improve behaviors and reduce deviance.
YanaTeen Camp provides youth with positive experiences, recreational activities, and opportunities for personal development. This initiative helps to build healthy relationships and strengthen moral values, essential for a life where school has a place until the acquisition of financial autonomy.
Scholarships for highschool students are another important pillar, providing financial support and motivation for young people from vulnerable backgrounds to continue their studies. Thus, we offer them a real chance to build a stable future and, not in few cases, to avoid the traps of delinquency.
YANA Garden Project contributes through hands-on education, helping children develop useful skills and understand the value of work. Participating in gardening and other similar projects teaches young people responsibility and gives them a different perspective on manual labor, building skills that can become functional and practical ways of life.
Through the Living Library – tell them about your job!, we bring professionals from various fields to inspire and guide young people. These interactions help them discover their vocation and set possible professional goals, reducing the risk of juvenile delinquency.
