WHAT WE DO
We promote mental health and the development of social skills
“Mental health is crucial for the harmonious growth and development of children and adolescents. The foundations of mental health are laid in early childhood, and this investment in the health of children and families benefits society as a whole.” – UNICEF
In 2022, Romania had the highest rate of children at risk of poverty or social exclusion in the European Union (41.5%), almost double the EU average (23.8%).
We promote mental health and the development of social skills for children and young people, offering them the support and resources necessary for harmonious integration in society and for building a stable and fulfilling future.
It is imperative that a child in a vulnerable situation receives mental health support, as this aspect significantly influences their overall development and adaptation to the environment.
Children can learn to manage stress, express their emotions and develop problem-solving skills. These skills not only help them cope with present difficulties, but also prepare them for future situations, increasing their emotional resilience and improving the quality of their life.
Through various activities and programs adapted to their age and needs, we encourage children in our centers to express their emotions, learn to collaborate and manage their behavior appropriately in different situations, thus preparing them to become balanced and involved adults in their community.
Here's how we do it:
Within the “My Garden” Project, gardening education offers children the opportunity to learn about respect for nature, develop independent life skills and understand economic and financial notions. This experience also gives them the chance to explore gardening as a possible option in their future career.
Lărguța Camp offers a series of activities aimed at developing the physical and mental balance of the participants. Through physical work, meditation, moments of reflection, as well as sharing and feedback, the camp is a context in which young people develop skills for managing stress and emotions, strengthening their mental health.
